- Enrolled as Advocate on 14-08-1976. Joined the chamber of his father Sri Raja Ram Agrawal, Senior Advocate and former Advocate General of U.P. on the Civil side and dealt with Constitutional, Company, Service, Educational and Taxation matters.
- Worked as Standing Counsel of the Income Tax Department of the Government of India.
- Served in number of Corporations and Institutions as their Standing Counsel. Was Joint Editor of U.P. Tax Cases.
- Elevated as Permanent Judge on 05-02-1999.
- Assumed office as Acting Chief Justice, High Court of Madras, on 07-02-2013.

Born on 20.07.1955. Enrolled on 07.01.1981. Practised on Civil and Criminal sides in Tirupattur and District Court, Krishnagiri, Harur and moffusil courts. Entered Tamilnadu Higher Judicial Service in 1988 as a direct recruit ‘District Judge’. Worked as District and Sessions Judge in Coimbatore, Vellore and Principal District and Sessions Judge, Pudukottai, Madras, Tirunelveli and Salem. Also worked as Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Madras. As a District Judge dealt with number of landmark cases and also led One-Man Commission on Police Excess by STF in Chinnampathy village, Coimbatore District in 1995-1996. As District Judge, was actively involved in Lok Adalat and Legal Literacy Programme. Organised number of Legal Literacy Camps and Lok Adalats in Pudukottai, Tirunelveli, Salem and Madras.
Elevated as Judge, High Court, Madras on 03.04.2003. As Judge of Madras High Court dealt with many important cases (i) Commercial litigations; (ii) Cases arising under Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996; (iii) ‘Banning Jallikattu and Bull Fight, Manjuvirattu (Rekla Race) which paved the way for formulating regulations relating to Jallikattu; (iv) Chidambaram Natarajar Temple case upholding appointment of Executive Officer to the temple thereby upholding control of the State Government in non-secular activities of the temple; (v) Many important Criminal Appeals; (vi) Lawyers Vs. Police incident in the High Court premises on 19.02.2009; (vii) Cases dealing with Minor Minerals; (viii) Streamlining sand quarrying operation in Tamiraparani River and Cauvery River; (ix) Applicability of Tamil Nadu Schools (Regulation of Collection of Fee) Act, 2009 to CBSE/ICSE schools; (x) Land Acquisition Cases.
Keenly interested in Legal Services and Lok Adalats, both in the High Court and Portfolio Districts. As a Chairman of High Court Legal Services Committee, organized number of Mega Lok Adalats, both in the Principal Bench and in the Madurai Bench.
Trained in United Kingdom on Gender Justice and for training the Judges under the British Council Programme. Was the Director of the Training Programme for Civil Judges (Junior Division) in the Madras High Court during 1998. Keenly interested in continuing judicial education for Judicial Officers to accomplish judicial excellence. Planned and organised for staff training in the District level as well as the High Court staff |

Hon’ble Thiru Justice S. Manikumar was born on 24.4.1961. His Father is Justice K. Swamidurai a retired Judge of this High Court. He completed B.Sc. Degree from Vivekananda College and B.L. Degree from Dr. Ambedkar Law College, Chennai. He enrolled as an Advocate on 23.11.1983. He has a long innings of more than 16 years in the judiciary. He was appointed as Judge of Madras High Court on 31.07.2006. |

Hon’ble Thiru Justice S. Nagamuthu, was born on 31.05.1955 at Madigai Village in Thanjavur Taluk. He studied at Government Secondary School at Vandaiyar Iruppu and completed PUC at Poondi College and was later graduated from Raja Sarfoji Government College at Tanjore and secured First Class and thereafter obtained Law Degree in the year 1980 from Madras Law College. He enrolled as an Advocate on 07.01.1981. He started practice in Thanjavur District Court as Junior to Mr. N. Karuppasamy, a leading Criminal Lawyer and was also attached to the office of the Senior Counsel Thiru. Viswanathan, Pattukottai, a leading Criminal Lawyer. After independent practice Your Lordship got trained by the well known Thiru. G.M. Virudhachalam Reddiar of Thiruchirappali Bar. From 1990 he started practice in Madras High Court. After commencement of Madurai Bench of Madras High Court at Madurai in the year 2004, he shifted practice permanently to Madurai Bench and conducted several sensational cases at Madurai Bench and conducted numerous cases. He has written several articles on important topics which have been published in Law Journals. He was also a Legal Adviser to Indian Medical Association. He was elevated as Judge of Madras High Court on 22.03.2007. |

Hon’ble Thiru Justice M.M. Sundresh, was born on 21st July 1962 at Erode. He completed school and pre university education at Erode. He completed B.A. Degree at Loyola College, Chennai and B.L. Degree at Madras Law College. He enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1985. He worked as Government Advocate between 1991 to 1996. His precise presentation of cases on facts and law, was well appreciated by the Bench and Bar. He was the Counsel for Tamil Nadu Small Scale Industries Development Corporation. He had extensive practice in Civil (Appellate), Criminal and Writ Jurisdiction in the Hon’ble High Court. He learned law and gained experience in the Chambers of the illustrious Seniors viz. S. Sivasubramaniam, who later became a Judge of the High Court and his father Thiru.V.K. Muthusamy, Senior Advocate. He was appointed as Judge of Madras High Court on 31.03.2009. |

Hon’ble Justice G.M. Akbar Ali, was born on 23rd November 1952 at Vallam, Thanjavur District. He underwent Elementary Education at St. Moses Elementary School at Thiruvarur and High School Education at St. Antony’s High School, Thanjavur. He completed B.Sc. Degree at Jamal Mohamed College at Thiruchirappalli in the year 1973. After a brief visit to Singapore to look after the business of his father, he came to Madras and completed Law Course and obtained B.L. ‘Degree during 1977. He joined the office of Mr. Habibullah Basha, Senior Advocate former Advocate General, Public Prosecutor. He practiced in City Civil Court, Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Small Causes Courts and in the High Court, Madras till 1982. He later shifted practice to Thanjavur in 1982 and practiced under Thiru. R. Jayaraman, Advocate, Thanjavur for a brief period and established independent practice. He was selected as a Sub Judge and posted as Assistant Judge, City Civil Court, Madras. He served as Sub Judge at Chengalpattu, Thirupathur, and Vellore Districts. His Lordship was promoted as District Judge in the year 1997 and posted as Additional District Judge at Salem. He worked as Chief Judicial Magistrate at Krishnagiri and then as Principal District Judge till he was transferred to Puducherry and posted as Chief Judge, Puducherry. He rendered remarkable service as Member Secretary, Tamil Nadu State Legal Services Authority during 2003-2005 and during 2006-2008 for two terms. He was also the Director of the Tamil Nadu State Judicial Academy. As the Member Secretary, State Legal Services Authority during 2003-05 and during 2006-08, the legal aid moment got a quantum leap in Tamil Nadu. He implemented “Micro Legal Literacy Scheme” which is now being implemented throughout the nation by NALSA. He was appointed as Member Secretary, NALSA, and the first South Indian Judicial Officer to be appointed and continued to hold this post till his elevation as Judge of Madras High Court on 31.03.2009.
Now, the Hon’ble Judge is adorning the Bench of High Court, Madras, for the last three years and he has disposed of a number of cases with many land mark judgments both on Civil and Criminal sides.
