Hon'ble Thiru. Justice R. Sudhakar

      

      Justice R.Sudhakar born on 14th February,1959, hails from Panapakkam Village, Vellore District (Formerly North Arcot District), Tamil Nadu. The family was engaged in yarn and allied goods business besides banking and agriculture. The family is known for its philanthropy and widely acclaimed in the district.

      Justice R.Sudhakar’s father, Late Justice S.T.Ramalingam served as a Judge of the Madras High Court from 1985 to 1991. Justice R.Sudhakar’s maternal grandfather, late S.P.Sri Ram served as a District Judge and retired as Chairman of the Sales Tax Appellate Tribunal.

      Justice R.Sudhakar had his early schooling in Don Bosco Matriculation School, Chennai and completed SSLC from St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Madurai. During his school days, he was an active member of the Boy’s Scout movement. He graduated from Loyola College, University of Madras,Chennai with Bachelors Degree in Biological Sciences. He took keen interest and participated in sports, social and cultural activities both at School and in College. Justice R.Sudhakar was conferred in Law from Madras Law College, University of Madras, in year 1982.

      Justice R.Sudhakar enrolled as an Advocate in the year 1983 and started practice as an associate of the Legal Luminary and Senior Advocate Mr.Habibullah Badsha, former Advocate General of Tamil Nadu and Public Prosecutor of Madras High Court. The pedigree of the law firm is worth mentioning. Shri Habibullah Badsha was associated with Shri Govind Swaminadhan - Crown Prosecutor and former Advocate General, Tamil Nadu, who in turn was groomed by another legal luminary of the Criminal Bar, Barrister(late) Shri V.L.Ethiraj, Founder of Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai

      Justice R.Sudhakar, practised in all branches of law and specialized in the Tax Laws more particularly in the field of Customs, Central Excise and Sales Tax Law. Besides Madras High Court, he has appeared in cases before the High Courts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala. Additionally he appeared regularly in matters before the Supreme Court of India also.

      He Hails from a family actively involved in the freedom struggle movement, championed by the Father our Nation Mahatma Gandhi. His maternal great-grandfather late S.P.Ayyaswami Mudaliar, a well known Civil Engineer in the early twentieth century, heeded the call of the Mahatma and took an active part in it. During the year of Second World War,especially 1939 and 1940, the family hosted several national leaders and freedom fighters such as Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, former president of India, Rajendra Prasad and severel such luminaries at their palatial house “GANDHI PEAK” in Bharati Salai, Royapettah, Chennai, named in memory of the Father of our nation.

      Justice R.Sudhakar is committed to social welfare causes and social reforms. He is interested in Agri Horticulture development for improvement of natural resource wealth of India. He takes an active and keen interest in promoting a healthy environment and to implement the law for protection of environment. He also takes much interest in protection of heritage structure like Madras High Court. Removing the barriers to advancement of underpriviliged and disabled people and ameliorating their struggle is a visionary cause close to his heart and one in which he actively participates.He is fond of travelling, Music and the Arts and takes keen interest in all such activities during his spare time
